A friend of mine at the office told me about his idea of a tattoo back piece last year:
“I have this idea of a tattoo but can’t find someone who can layout it exactly how I wanted it. Lady justice, a phoenix, and a dragon that would look like the Philippine flag.”
The concept was challenging to say the least and I really got excited to do it. At first, I told him that my style leans towards Art Nouveau. He was a little skeptic at first and so I told him that I’ll do a sketch and we’ll see where it goes. I drew Lady Justice on how I envisioned her and showed it to my friend; that’s when it all started.
The conversation about designing this back piece started April of last year (2010). I am actually embarrassed that it took so long for the design to finish as it evolved into something more and more. A few months later, he then saw a design on a shirt of somewhat a stylized vector art of an eagle; the design once again evolved into this.
The concept is his idea, I just did the initial drawings and illustrations; The tattoo artist added his own flavor.
